He Hasn’t Got a Notion

(a country song)

Science, music, industry,
Philosophy and art.
He won’t give up any.
They’re all dear to his heart.
He’s a jack of all of them,
Thinks dabbling is fun.
He’d like to master something
But he can’t decide which one.

He hasn’t got a notion
Of what he wants to do.
He hasn’t got a notion
He’s a lot like me and you.

He’s got lots of opportunities
But he can’t seem to decide.
He’s living like a pinball.
He sometimes likes the ride.
What’s most important to him?
He doesn’t really know.
He’s got plenty of direction
But he can’t tell where to go.

He hasn’t got a notion
Of what he wants to be.
He hasn’t got a notion.
He’s a lot like you and me.

Lonely is the one thing
He never wants to be.
He won’t give up his freedom
But he wants a family.
He doesn’t see his problems.
Believe me he’s got tons.
He’s missing some emotions.
He’s not quite sure which ones.

He hasn’t got a notion
Of how he’s supposed to feel.
He hasn’t got a notion.
He doesn’t know what’s real.

He hasn’t got a notion.
He hasn’t got a clue.
He hasn’t got a notion.
He’s a lot like me and you.
